Antsle Servers

What hardware does everyone use to run their factorio servers?
I was looking at buying a antsle one Pro, or to just run one off a a Dell edge R710 while using the ESXi as the host for virtualized vms. But im not looking to do any heavy lifting, but i understand the individual cpu cores are most important for factorio so i figured i'd ask. I have also run servers off Synology NAS's for light weight servers that are private and limited to 5-10 people.
Also the cost is immensely different in buying the hardware vs renting it. I prefer owning my hardware though, so i was thinking of throwing up a antsle server on say a centos or window's vm. Not sure yet as i've been using the 2008 R2 server edition since i still have licensing for it.
