split direction conveyor belts

An idea I had was a single conveyor belt, where one of the of the belt would move in the opposite direction of the other side.

A fairly common idea actually. It usually gets put in mod requests, which is impossible because there's no base mechanic to borrow from.
oh look, that's where you put it. To be honest, I'm not sure what category it should be in, but we need the mod support in the game engine to be able to do it.

Yeah I don't expect it either. But if it ever gets implemented it will be by the developers.
