Reworking of the "Module Stage"

I think the Modules section needs to be reworked to include new game mechanics.
If new machines and different ingredients were added it would add more interest into this section, similar to how the Oil Stage with chemical plants, fluids, etc. also gives you something more unique.
So far every time I have reached the point where I need modules, my mind has given up every time, as it begins to feel like a chore. It just becomes bigger and longer to do.
Why?
A reworking of the system would change gameplay up and add something new to the mix, increasing interest later into the game, and give incentive to build further in.
