big logistic chests lower tech than normal size chests?

This doesn't seem right. Why do the normal size chests require higher tech electronics than the large chests?

They are also larger 2*2 physically so they might be harder squeeze into tight spots.

They have worse item compression than the 1x1 chests, why they unlock earlier? Because you need them for the cargo bots.
