When I start the game from steam, or from the desktop shurtcut, I simply get the following error:
"Echec de l'initialisation. Code erreur : 01" (french).

It happened yesterday as well and I managed to solve it by:
- Uninstalled the game
- Delete the folder "Factorio" in Roaming
- Restart the PC
- Reinstall the game
(Note: Only uninstall / Reinstall, or only restart the PC didn't work separatly)

These steps didn't work today. However I get a more detailed error message on the first failure only (please find attached "DirectX crashed")

I haven't found anything about RTSS on my PC
I both tryed to turn as TRUE opengl and to use launch option --force-opengl.

I tried again the steps that worked yesterday, and it worked again. I can play today

I am still looking forward a better solution to start my game

Hello, I believe there is some problem with graphics drivers on your computer. It seems to me you have a laptop with nVidia Optimus technology, in that case you need both Intel HD Graphics driver and GeForce graphics driver.

When it works - is everything else with your laptop same as when it doesn't work? (ie. the charger is plugged in, you have same applications running, etc.)

I would be also more interested to see the DirectX crash log than OpenGL failure.

Thank you very much for your prompt reply (especially on Saturday). Apologies to respond only today, I was already in the game, online with a friend yesterday (this game is so nice ; can't stop it ^^)

I confirm I have a Lenovo laptop (windows 8.1). I do have NVIDIA technology, and I have just check: windows confirm both HD Graphics driver and GeForce graphic driver are up to date. However, I remember to have turn one of them off then on back to solve an issue a long time ago (I don't remember the issue, but remember it did work ; I will try this if I get the pb again).

Absolutely everything seemed same when it did work or not: PC plugged, same software started (Twitch app and Steam). My PC is always really slow after starting: I can feel it is not at its best during the first 10 - 20 min after starting. Therefore, the only difference I can think about is the time I have waited between the PC start and the Game start.
Note: it has just started properly today ; my PC was on for a long time before start it.

Remove the --force-opengl argument, produce the crash again and post the log.

I haven't reply before as I haven't had the problem again. I am not sure what I did I do to solve it, but it seems solved: I have played nearly every days since the issue without ant problem.
