Mac alpha version entirely not working

Versions 9.8-10.12 --- OS X 10.9.4 (Mavericks) --- 9.8 demo played before

First of all the downloaded version crashes really hard with a 10% loading bar. This could be fixed by disabling the "base" mod in mod-list.json (thumbs up that the new version shows "loading mods"); "reinstalling" didn't work, i.e. deleting the whole config folder (named "factorio").

But then you can't start any campain or custom game. If you install the bonus scenario pack or enable base again from the main menu, you can select them but get the error "player prototype required but missing" and the program quits.

When starting a custom game ("new game") the "richness" column is empty - no GUI elements - and you get the error message "at least one tile type has to be allowed" on hitting "generate".

Hi, this looks like you have not enough video ram. Disabling base helps with this, because base contains most of factorio graphics. On the other hand, base contains everything you see in the game, so when you disable it, there is not much of a game to play (and that is why map generation menu is empty and error shows on game start).

To work around this problem, you can enable low graphics mode: https://forums.factorio.com/forum/vie ... f=7&t=3077 .
Let me know if it helped.

Yes, that's the problem / it worked. It also explains why the demo is working, but none of the alpha versions...
