Wish:
http://www.twitch.tv/directory/game/Factorio for live MP testing, hosted by slpwnd and kovarex . Not Cube, he and his sockets keep ruining the game for everyone

It would be nice to see some MP. Either on twitch or YouTube.

Agreed. I think a demonstration is in order.

Our efforts have culminated yesterday when me and Kovarex had a regular half an hour LAN game. Until now it was all about tests and 20 seconds lasting mini attempts. This was actually the very first real game we tried.

ah, my weekly factorio fix. Very nice progress. A video would be nice (nothing special, like 5mins with a bit of commentary maybe?).
Keep up the good work. Fingers crossed that 10.10 will be stable and we can move on.

The tank looks great! It's nice to hear that the multiplayer is making progress.

I really look forward to testing multiplayer.
I have done some multiplayer game programming myself using a deterministic game world and lock step as a method to keep games in sync. This was a project I did when I was studying for my degree, so no real game came out of it, but I learned a lot about the concepts. Do you use floating-point math in the game world? If so, I am curious about how you handle intermediate floating-point precision in C++ across multiple platforms? Like what is described here:

Yes, we use floating point math A LOT.
Well, I have opened this article before ... and similar ones as well. So yes, I'm afraid of problems but I hope we will be able to solve those eventually.
I'v read the article again, and some of the problems might be solved already.
- We don't use fp fast, but fp strict
- We have our custom sin/cos/tan methods.
- We try to avoid cases where the order of computation would be unclear
- We are prepared to rewrite some of the calculations to asm if needed ...

Thanks for the answer. As I said I really look forward to multiplayer, and I'm glad you're working hard to get this implemented. Keep up the good work!
Quick edit: If you need to go the asm-route: Good luck!

chiming in as well, asking for multiplayer as soon as possible

that being said I totally understand if you want to wait to push it to the unstable branch. Is there an IRC chat for when we eventually want to play multiplayer w/ each other?
Thanks in advance,
