Is there a way or a mod that would make bots "prefer" some storage chests over other when it comes to certain goods? For instance I have some storage chests that I only want wood to be stored.

I'm only using these during deforestation and the wood is immediately taken out of there by inserters onto a belt. So putting some wood in there to make bots only store wood there is out of question. I also can't use requester chest as I have a provider chest with wood (treefarm mod) so it would just end up being filled with wood from the farms and I don't want that.

I'd really like it if you could select which goods you want to be stored in storage chests and which ones should be filled and emptied first.

Set the requester chest to 1 wood. Add a smart inserter with red wire condition wood < 1. Wire the smart inserter to a storage chest.

From the wiki, "[Robots] try to move the item to a storage chest, that already contains items of the same type. Empty storage chests are filled first. This should avoid having storage chests with different items inside." So, maintain at least 1 wood in the storage chest using a wired smart inserter - "Operate while Wood>1" (like what DaveMcW suggested but won't require a requester to constantly pull from the other storage chest). This doesn't eliminate the possibility that the bot will carry wood to the other end of your factory, but it does reserve the specified storage chest for wood. In order to eliminate long distance travel the current solution is to have separate networks.

It'd be nice to be able to middle click on the chest to reserve space like we can with the wagons.
