[HELP] 8 way splitter setup

I need a way to split 8 transport belts evenly.
It needs to fit in a 13 wide area but length doesn't really matter.

Thanks in advance.

This is 14 wide, but you can remove the double lane corners to reduce it to 12. You aren't using them on any of your other belts so you won't lose speed.

Thanks.

Just wondering, why do you have splitters right behind the splitters. aren't they obsolete.

You need double splitters to balance belts when input > output.

Is that still valid with https://forums.factorio.com/forum/vie ... f=5&t=6019 in mind?

*edit*

This appears to work well, inputs are all flowing equally (at least when eyeballing it), output is currently limiting (merging into 2 express belts in the output).
10 tiles wide, thanks to liberal use of splitter-shifting. All the splitters that have two inputs and two outputs are placed at the top of a 2x2 block.

South-facing red splitters are not balanced. Try with all 8 lanes full, and only one output running. The inputs will not drain equally.

I suggest you replace the shift-splitters with blue belt corners, and use the resource savings to upgrade to blue splitters. ;)

This is a tight, theoretical solution. Clearly it doesn't address fast corners or splitter errors, but should get you close to what you want in a 12x12 area.

Yeah, looks like you're right, I hadn't even really considered directionality an issue (I know you mentioned it in your splitters-as-joiners thread, guess I mostly took the 2x2 alignment away from it :) )

From a quick test, it didn't seem all that much better with (single) blue splitters (haven't tried doubles). But it doesn't even really matter in this case, the important aspect for this setup is to have the output roughly equal. If that only takes input from one or two belts, that's just fine. I use these in either bringing ore from my trainstations to my smelters or from the smelters to the rest of the base. Mostly I just want all outputs filled as much as possible.

Also, resources aren't much of a problem anymore by now... I mean...

Can be simplified to fit into 10x11 tiles:
