Nvidia Optimus issue

Hi,
I'm playing Factorio on my laptop with Intel and Nvidia graphics. I have enabled Factorio to be run on my Nvidia graphics. Usually I have my laptop closed and use an external screen and everything works fine.
However when I'm using the internal screen Factorio gets detected by the Nvidia driver but for some reason it still runs on the Intel graphics.
One workaround to this is disabling the Intel graphics completely in the BIOS but I'd prefer not having to do that.
Maybe this is somehow related to Factorio being 64bit software because sometimes this seems to cause issues.
I'm using Windows 2012 R2 which is basically Win 8.1.
I haven't posted this in bug reports because I am not sure if this actually is a Factorio bug or a Nvidia issue and I suspect the latter.
This happens with 0.15.40 and 0.16.2. I can not test 0.16.3 because it crashes at 89% loading.
