It would be nice if you were able to take items out of an inserter. If you get a contaminated belt, or a partly built setup, or put coal/whatever into furnaces, inserters sometimes get stuck with the wrong item.
As it is, you have to manually remove and then replace the inserter, which is irritating.
Being able to remove the held item(s) like from a chest or assembler would be appreciated.

I don't remember if a fast-replace of the inserter empties its hand. If it was the case, it would be a quite painless solution.

Maybe. Question is if it also resets bob inserter settings as well, and you can't exactly fast replace with the same kind of inserter.
