Big performance regression on 0.16.2

Hi.
I gave a shot to Factorio 0.16.2 yesterday and noticed a big performance regression when I zoom-out to the maximum.
For comparison: on 0.15.40 I get a steady 60 FPS, while I get 12-16 FPS on 0.16.2. This is not acceptable... what's going on?

try setting 'Video memory usage' to high in graphics settings.

Or turning down sprites to normal. (If I understand some of the similar bug reports in the bug reports forum, with all the additional hi-res sprites in 0.16, you now need more the 2GB Vram to run the hi-res sprites without performance slowdowns).

Actually I noticed the FPS drops when there is a forest to be rendered. In a desert with no vegetation, I get 60 FPS.

0.16.3
- Fixed very low performance of drawing decoratives on medium or lower video memory usage setting. (54681)
looks like they addressed the issue.

Well, I was testing that version actually when I noticed that a single small forest kills my FPS.
There is still a big room for optimization.
