Steam Engine Not Producing Power [SOLVED]

I have everything connected correctly, yet steam engine fails to produce power

All resources are supplied to the boiler, and the Steam Engine is connected directly adjacent to the boiler as seen below:
(NOTE: i tried replacing the offending objects)

The steam engine isn't connected to anything that needs power, so it won't produce any.

Icon will continue to flash if no power consuming object is connected. This is very confusing for a new player

That icon literally means "no network", it should be present. The problem is more that it's not obvious what it means due to the symbol not being very clear.

Symbol should be present, yet the symbol is not very clear. oh well, only lost half and hour.

Sorry, but for me problem is not solved. In my case every is properly connected but connected lab is flashing red. What do you mean ?
