FFF Ideas

TL;DR
Ideas in the FFF posts should be snipped and made into their own threads in Ideas and Suggestions
What ?
When someone makes a post in an FFF that's an Idea tangentially related or even not related to the FFF have it moved to its own thread in the ideas and suggestions board.

The ideas should be tagged as "FFF# idea: topic" so people don't ignore the idea because it doesn't follow the template or tell the OP they should use the template when the template wasn't a part of the place they were posting
Why ?
I think this improves the boards because it brings more people into routinely using the ideas and suggestions board, allows for better discussion of ideas posted to the FFF threads and it improves the FFF because they stay on topic.

This does totally make sense, and I would add that having a search in the "Ideas and Suggestions" subforum before posting is highly advisable too. You can't imagine how many ideas can pop intens of thousands of contributors from the community in 5 years :).

However, I'm not supporting the idea a moderator should do it. Because there are far too many ideas for 3 or 4 people to formalize the ideas of others.
Anyone contributing in a FFF is free to create a formal suggestion. Why don't they do it ? Il requires work, thinking, attention, and time. Most people are just too lazy and just throw an idea in a few words. Only few of them make the effort to contribute usefully.

But it still works, the game get many additions, many of them coming from us all and that's good :).

I might do a few examples of what I'm expecting with ideas I want to talk about (or think might benefit from some discussion) but generally I see like 2-3 tangent ideas on each page of the FFFs and each having their own thread instead I think would be justified. It might be a case of sending PMs rather than moving the posts to a new thread with a title as suggested.

Dear User

You posted a valuable Idea or Suggestion to FFF#

Did you know there's a Subforum for Ideas and Suggestions. It's likely to get more attention there and you might find there are already posts along similar ideas and people fleshing them out, in fact the Devs are more likely to see it and for it to get implemented if it's there and discussed rather than a random comment in the FFF threads.

There are some guides to posting an Idea or Suggestion, the most in depth version can be found here, but a good rule of thumb is make sure that there's nothing in the top page/month or two that fits your ideas and post your them one to a thread with this template don't worry if you have multiple ideas you can make multiple posts we don't mind

Thank you

The thing is, some people would be too lazy to do even that.

But giving them the prompt might make some and some is kind of better than none and good ideas going to waste.

The point of the FFF threads is to gain feedback on the the topics we cover in the FFF,
So bascially we read the FFF threads carefully, and see all the ideas and suggestions

I don't see much value in copy-pasting those ideas then to another forum, where we might not see it
(Even though personally I see basically every thread in the forum as they filter through active topics)

I agree with the feedback on ideas that are directly related to the content of FFFs I've taken part in some of them (and some of the Tangents) I mean the things that're either tangentally related or not related at all.

Like how "make robots unable to leave the area of the robot network they're connected to" being an idea attached to FFF#203. Yes, that FFF is about the buffer chests and the logistic system and certainly has something to do with handling logistics areas but it's an idea that could be better discussed and elaborated on and fleshed out away from the FFF, it's an idea that gets in the way of the FFF talk, and an idea where finding the original discussion months or years down the road when someone says "I remember a post about how logistics bots sometimes get lost on their way to jobs" would be difficult to rediscover because your go to wouldn't be FFF discussion but the ideas and suggestions forum. Yes if you want to find all the ideas relating to Buffer Chests then FFF#203 is going to be one of the first places to look but the tangential ideas should be removed to here.

Or in the same thread a discussion about train optimisation takes up 3 of the 8 pages with no real benefit to the Buffer chests discussion (with buffer chest discussion posts ignored as the conversation continues) and without bearing on the original optimisation comments in the FFF, comments or ideas the majority of us can't even begin to address because we can't see the code by the way. But one comment on the rails discussion is quoted half a dozen times and discussed by different people even after it's been answered both in depth and in lay terms, including by a Dev.

The original suggestion was not to just copy the ideas from those threads initially but to remove the posts from those threads and turn them into new ones in this forum. But I'm not a mod and have no power to do that so I did what I was capable of within my powers.

Also what you've basically said with your post is if you want to guarantee that at least one member of the team sees your idea don't post it in ideas and suggestions find or wait for an FFF that kind of fits the idea and post it there.
