Load Factorio-> Play-> Multiplayer-> Connect to server-> insert ip and port address-> Error-- Unhandled exception: Select failed: An operation was attempted on something that is not a socket.-> click OK-> starts loading and then crashes.

This is fixed in 0.16. You should be able to just re-try joining to get it to work.

"An operation was attempted on something that is not a socket." sounds more like LavasoftTcpService issue
