base mod broken

So after 300 in game vanilla hours I wanted to take a look at mods, I started with the in game portal but it didn't work. turned out, I had disabled base mod and it didn't work. tried to toggle it, but when I did, it said:

Error loading mods

Failed to load mods: Error in assignID, recipe-category with name "crafting" does not exist.

source: starting-area (noise-layer).

already tried re-installing the game twice. I deleted everything that had anything to do with factorio on my laptop, and then re-installed it, but it still doesn't work.
I have no clue what this means so I thought I'd ask it. so if someone who understands this can help me, it would mean a lot (;

Base already was: true

I downloaded the mod, does it simulate base?

Yes, just rewrite (re-assign?) categories, but I don't know why it was corrupted.

I think that some of mods has rewrite this part, so it's possible to fix it with another one.
Just install this mod and say if it works.

I turned them both on (base and your mod) didnt work
