Selective ores to mine

Hello, i'm not sure if my idea for a mod is new or if there is a mod like it already (if there is, please let me know).
Some times when i mine, there is more than one kind of ore on a mine field, and some times ores are limited, so i would like to mine all of what is there, but because they are near each other, i get to mine 2 ores at a time.
Is it possible to make a mod that lets you choose what ore you want to mine and won't allow the other one?
