Loading Autosave and then immediately exting

clears player information (console-history and service-username, service-token)

Also, now, running the game and then exiting clears player-data.json
such as loading the game, changing mods, and restarting the player-data.json gets cleared.

Can you post your log, please?

load-and-ext - just loads the game and exits

load-auto-save - loads an existing save; I had disabled all the mods

attached the player-data.json ...
I saved a copy that had some commands in it and kept copying it back. it's already scrubbed of my ID from a previous clear.

It looks like there is a newer version of player-data.json in Steam Cloud so it loads that one instead of your local one.

Try to open your player-data.json, add a white space somewhere - maybe after the first { - then save it. If you don't need Steam Cloud, you can disable it for Factorio.

I wonder what is clearing it to genreate a newer blank version in cloud... stilll investigating I guess.

We solved for 0.16 in a way that should solve these kind of problems:

The game will use only the cloud version of player-data and achievements on steam to avoid problems with resets.

Just a note; I realized the other even that happens between having good data, and having the data cleared, is that steam will stall in loading the game.
My internet connection is somewhat intermittent (makes playing on a server basically impossible because I get disconnected every 15-20 minutes) but I think that if there's a burp in the internet maybe that's when the data gets cleared?

(Really hate that I can't find something that definatly causes an issue, because Cox cable can't seem to fix it.) And it seems if I miss just a couple seconds of packets from the server I cannot catch up ever. And, when I reconnect it bogs the game down for everyone so for 30 seconds to reconnect and catch up everyon'e complaining "I can't do anything!" but that's a different issue.
