Combined Train stations

Hey there. I have a little problem and I do not know whether there may be a solution yet for it.

I have a train station in which trains shall load iron plates only. When this station is used by a train other trains are waiting in front of it until the train leaves and the next can enter. Is there already the possibility to build more stations and connect them so they are all the same station but different platforms. So when platform 1 is used by train A train B automatically uses platform 2 which also counts as the same station.
So in fact trains will look for an empty platform when arriving and uses it when availible. So you can set up a train station and lead trains to it and they will use next availible station. So you can optimize throughput.

If this option is not possible by now maybe someone can put this thread to ideas? Because dynamic stations with more platforms would increase the using of trains. MAybe you can connect them with wires to make them count as same station or an implementation of a sub-train-stop which has to be connected to a normal station to count as this one. Or with Shift-Click copy and paste or so on. But I really need more stations and trains which are using the next free platform so I do not have to build and set extra stations for trains to make them more attractive

I think if you give two different stops the same name, then a train ordered to go to that stop name can pick whichever stop it wants to arrive at.

Confirmed. You can give multiple stations the identical name and the game conciders them as equal lanes within one station.

Put chain signals going into your set of stations, and then they should be red if a train is in a station, green if it's not, and blue if some stations are open but others are closed. And the entryway signal will be red if a train is directly in front of your train going in.

That way, your 2nd train will have to wait at the chain signal until the other train is actually at the first station, and won't follow it in. Then, it'll repath to the new station.

Train sits behind 1 if it's going into the stations, or continues along if not.
Train sits behind 2 if it wants to ONLY go to the bottom station, else it can continue on.
3 allows the train to keep going up to the higher stations even if the bottom station is full.
Train can go to the middle station, but will stop at 4 if it wants to go to the top station.

At each of these signals, if the train has a target station that is full, but another that is not, it'll go to the other station so long as they're named the same (as the two iron ones are. The copper one is not)

(oh and ignore all that spaghetti. It's a quick and dirty station I threw down as a temp fix, that ended up staying as all these temporary things you throw down as a quick fix tend to be)

Yeah that's what I asked for :) So I rename stations equally so they can use the next free available. Thanks guys :)
