setting up some trains, crash when in the train and looking at rail signal. no mods.

has happened at least 2 times, logs are attached for both, save is from in between the crashes

It crashed in opengl flip_display, most probably inside the video driver. I highly doubt it was related to trains.

There is not much we can do about it unless you find a way to reliably reproduce the crash.
