Train only factory(train-> assembler -> train)UPS savings?

I couldn't find anything on the idea of just using long train stations with assemblers next to them as a factory. Does anyone have an idea of how well it would work or any advice on the design before I start it: would it cost too much to set up? would it lower UPS more or less than a bot-based factory? I want to set this up from an existing base that produces 10k iron/min, ideally deep into biter territory so that the ore density is high.

The design I want would be to have very long trains- maybe 50 wagons- that pull up next to assemblers(prod 2), without beacons. The idea is to keep UPS high as possible while I expand the setup into a base that can research as much infinite mining productivity as possible (with the current base I am already past level 40 giving an 80% boost: nearly doubling ore output and UPS at 50-60)

Is there a good reason I haven't seen this done before?

Maybe you haven't searched enough :). I have already seen such concepts. Here are some links that take that approach :

viewtopic.php?f=8&t=24637 (that one is slightly different, it is basically a beltrain concept)

It's even featured in the wiki : https://wiki.factorio.com/Cargo_wagon#U ... _big_chest

Thanks for the links. I had found links of people using stationary wagons as chests, but hadn't found anyone using the wagons as one continuous belt, or using trains to fill assemblers directly.
