Game wont Launch on 0.15.x

When I updated my game to V 0.15.x experimental steam would say it Factorio is launching but then it stops loading. It doesn't even load into the loading screen
Until now I only heard of launch issues with the Steam version, website versions usually work in that case. Nonetheless check for the applications I listed above and anything else that might interfere with Factorio. Also check if it really doesn't create a log file.sprekken wrote:This sounds like the same problem I'm having. The only proof that it tried to run is the Factorio process in task manager sitting at ~2MB of memory and no cpu or disk usage.
I'm using the zip package off the site and 0.14.x is the latest that starts.
Ah that might just well be the case Trend micro.daniel34 wrote:Some third-party software is interfering with the Steam version of Factorio.
If you use Razer Synapse then close it (killing the process might be further required).
If you use Trend Micro AV/Security then see this thread.
If you use Comodo AV/Security then add an exception ("Exclusion") for Factorio.
Otherwise what AV/Security have you installed and do you use any other gaming-related third-party software (OSD screens, overclocking utilities, mouse/keyboard utilities)?

Thanks, Trend Micro was the problem in my case. rhekis' post had the answer that worked which was to close the AV completely, not just disabling the protection or whitelisting the exe.daniel34 wrote:Some third-party software is interfering with the Steam version of Factorio.

I was able to restart the AV while Factorio was loading without any problem, so it seems to just be a problem with the initial launching of the program.
