never, part of the puzzle of factorio is building with the components you have available
there are mods for that if you really cannot live without them

Bob's Inserters is still current, not sure if he's updated for 0.15 yet but he's working on it along with all his other mods. Allows extremely heavy customisation of Inserters.

It's updated for 0.15. I'm in the middle of a Bob's mod play right now.

There are dozens of inserter mods, and at least 5 are updated for 15x.
A massive part of the game is graduation from the base game to using mods.
