Resource re-generation

On our server we run into a problem where stone is only present in starting area. Other patches are miles and miles away and are very small.
We don't want to restart or manually spawn stone veins. Is there a way to remove all resource veins and re-generate them using different generation options? (on a running world)

Afaik it's not possible to change map generation string on existing world. Just use script to fenerate aditional patches.
