How do I use Passive Provider Chests in 0.15?

The new tech tree gives me passive provider chests long before I am able to access requester chests. So what can I do with the passive provider chest before I research logistic network?

Construction robots and your personal logistic slots work without requester chests.

Passive provider chest can be use to put all stuff for construction robots. So you can use bleuprint before having the logistic network reach.

Also Passive Provider Chests work nice with your character logistic slots to keep you provided with common stuff.
You should most commonly use those as an output chest for end products. Items will wait in this chest until they are actively requested by requester chests, character logistic slots or construction bots.
Remember that any chests should be covered by robobort logistic area (orange) for bots to be able to use it. This is so for construction bots as well despite of their greater range for building purposes.

Storage chests will get used to store stuff dumped in your Trash Slots, Passive Providers will not.

Also trees and rocks harvested by construction bots go to storage chests, not passive provider chests. So even without logistic bots they have their uses

In other words:
A passive provider will - as the name implies - not get filled by the bots and is therefore useful for produced goods (i.e. one or more assemblers directly outputting into them).
A storage chest can be filled and cleared by the bots and does therefore work best as a "miscellaneous stuff holding thingy" but not as a buffer for output.
