Multiplayer is not working

So I reinstalled Factorio today after not having it for a while. So I then updated to 0.15.9. i was going to play with a friend but when tried to join me he would get dropped while connecting, and when I tried to join him I would get dropped while connecting. What I did to try and fix the problem
Made sure I had 34197 port-forwarded
Restarted laptop
Restarted router
Turned on DMZ
Made sure NAT is on
Made sure factorio is allowed through firewall
Turned off firewall
I have no idea what could be causing this issue, since I can normally host other things like Mumble servers, TS3 servers, etc.
