I've been having my gun turrets destroyed by small groups of medium biters, even though the gun turrets are encased in a square of wall segments, and not one single wall segment ever gets destroyed. Repeatedly, the medium biters have no trouble at all attacking right through the wall. I don't know if the small biters do it because they die too fast.

I'm pretty sure this wasn't happening before. The difference is very distinct. Defensive setups that were impervious to swarms of medium biters in 0.12, 0.13, and 0.14 are suddenly being taken down in seconds by small groups of 5-10 medium biters. This is because gun turrets have no physical resistance and are much softer than a wall segment.

I have always experimented biters with 2 tiles reach (aka a one-tile gap is needed between wall and turrets for biters not to be able to chew turrets). I just can't remember if it was only with bigger ones, or all of them.

The wiki has said in the past that behemoth biters can attack through walls. I've never actually gotten far enough in a game to see any behemoths, but the tiny walls have always bee able to delay even big biters. I've always had the turrets up against the walls and the only problem I've ever had with that was when they destroy the wall too fast. Spitters can attack over walls though, and they destroy gun turrets sometimes. But they don't have much physical resistance so a defense with only gun turrets still worked okay even with big biters/spitters. Now I can't seem to have my defenses work against medium biters, and I haven't even gotten a medium spitter yet.

Big biters could always attack two tiles away.

But not medium biters.
