When you have an item in your toolbelt that you middle-click, it is locked as you know. You can also middle-click an empty slot, and a gui menu appears to allow you to select which item is locked.

Let's say I lock yellow belt on a slot.
But let's say that for some reason I have some leftover stack of yellow belt in my inventory.

I would like that to be automatically added to my toolbelt slot if possible (till max capacity, so 100) when I lock it.

Similarly, once I exhaust the yellow belt in my toolbelt slot, I want it to be refilled with any yellow belt I would have in my inventory.

So that's my suggestion: auto-filled locked toolbelt slot.

I second this!

So many times I select some item in the toolbar (e.g.: pressing a number) and, instead of pressing Q, I select another item from the inventory.
Then I realize that my locked slot on toolbar is empty.

What do you suggest? I think it's just to learn to press Q in the right moment.

If your toolbelt slot is empty, pressing Q isn't going to do anything. And it shouldn't be empty if you have copy of the items in your inventory.
