Hi, I'm fairly new to the game and I find myself counting squares way too often. I also accidentally found grid view, (shift+space) witch helps a bit. I'd love to enhance grid view a bit, like so:

Click and drag to get a square with the size of the given rectangle, and I'd make it stay so we can have more than one. A right click and drag can remove the rectangles.

I've added a screenshot of how it would look.

Shift+space is pause, and it also darkens the screen in addition to showing the grid. If you find that useful, you might also want to try pressing F4 and checking "show-tile-grid".
