Enabling / Disabling Miners over network or setting filter?

Is it possible to somehow restrict a miner to either mine only a specific resource like coal (if it is placed over multiple resources, e.g. coal and iron), or - if that's not possible - disable a specific miner over the network?

You don't need a mod to disable a mining drill.

as far as i know there is no way mining only one ore when placed on multiple ones.
just be careful when placing, mouse over to confirm expected resources are only one.
you could always use filter inserters to separate them.
thanks DaveMcW. i never thought of reading miners like that. or wiring them at all for that matter.
combine 'read entire patch' with a programmable speaker set to global playback an you have a audible low ore warning device.
