Factorio not starting, no log provided, ntdll.dll faulting.

For 0.15.1 i could fix it with changing config-path.cfg to point to install dir but for 0.15.2 i cant get it to work, the funny thing is i rolled back to 0.15.1 and even this is not working anymore, dont know what to do now.

factorio will show up in taskmngr shortly and then disapear, not even providing a logfile!

Event log is telling that the NT-Layer is faulting (ntdll.dll)


I would provide my system via RDP for you to debug if you can't reproduce the error.


UPDATE: I now downloaded 0.15.1 from /experimental/downloads and it is working again but only if run as admin.

For all tested versions the config-path.cfg is setup like this: Is steam forcing %APPDATA% for config?

No, it will use whatever is defined in config-path.cfg, but Steam will overwrite that file every time the installed Factorio version is changed or you verify the game cache.

If you are using Razer Synapse then close it (killing the process might be further required).
If you are using Trend Micro AV/Security then see this thread.
Otherwise what AV/Security have you installed and do you use any other gaming-related third-party software (OSD screens, overclocking utilities)?

Currently i am using avira as antivir but the smartscreen is deactivated.
I am indeed using Razer "software". I will check this out.

Closing RazerSynapse is definetly solving the issue.. is this a problem with RazerSynapse hooking the game??

Hi, what version of Razer Synapse do you use? So far I haven't been able to reproduce this. Also what peripherals from Razer do you have? Maybe it happens only when certain HW is plugged in.
