I'm not sure if I understand your question correctly,
but the map size in Factorio is unlimited, unless you specify a size.

the maximum size for limited map sizes is very big. like 9 hour train ride big

If you are asking what's the maximum map size, it should be 1,000,000 (one million) tiles in each direction, which would result in a square of 2,000,000 x 2,000,000, or 4,000,000,000,000 (four quadrillion) tiles.

The map is practically unlimited. Youll never reach the border in your lifetime.

Yes, with no limit in map generator, we place a limit of 2,000,000,
After that there will be errors to crash the game, so we limit it on the inside
