Assembly achines don't pass liquid, while there is an end pipe with an arrow.
If this behaviour is intended, the end pipe and arrow on the assembly machine should be removed to make clear that liquids don't pass through.

The output pipe is reserved for the output of the recipe (if there is any, like emptying the oil barrel for example), so the input will not just flow there.

To make it more clear, only the pipe used by the recipe (input, output or both) are graphically shown in 0.10, so it will be less confusing.

What about coloring the arrows depending on the consumed/produced liquid?
(additionally to what you plan - hiding arrows on unused pipes)
