I tried replacing the base/graphics/pipe.png file with my own custom one to see if it would work. When I loaded it up, the pipes in my inventory and on the assembly machines was blank.

I replaced the file, still blank.

I uninstalled Factorio, downloaded new copy from website, still blank. Is there some kind of cache that I need to clear out to fix this back to the original pipe icon?

After reading some other posts about invisible graphics, I tried changing graphics settings and that seems to kick-start Factorio into reloading the graphics. Issue resolved!
