[0.14.21 Steam] Copper Cable Doesn't Stay Removed

In order to control a power pole via a power switch I use [Shift + Left Click] to remove all wires to a power pole. I then connect the power pole in question to a power switch and the power switch to a separate power pole with copper cable.
This all operates correctly.
However, When I load a save, the power poles connect to each other again. The connection to the power switch remains but is basically shorted out and useless.
I am assuming that the copper cable connections between power poles are regenerated every time a game is loaded, however if that is the case, how can I make it so that my power switches continue to operate from a saved game?
