Combinators, outputs, logistics network, testing and...

When you hover over a combinator, the box on the right shows inputs and outputs.

But... if the input is from the logistics network, the outputs are off screen. So... how do *you* test this shit? I'm so frustrated, annoyed and starting to get angry at... okay, nah, must be my fault, since we know Factorio is perfect.

Dude nobody's pretending it's perfect, it's still prerelease and the GUI is being totally redesigned for the next version. Chill.

Connect the output to a power line and hover over that, or if you're connecting it to another combinator you can check it instead.

If your only interested in a couple of items from the logistics network you can use an arithmetic set to "item + 0" and output input count and connect the output to a pole so you only see the output and not the input too.
The more items you're interested in the messier it gets sadly, since you'd have to add a combinator for each item. Logistics ui needs an overhaul :D

We need circuit network window (like Electric Network window). Extra points if it can show signals in separate rows like a logic analyzer:

Chill is always good advice. Or, in the words of the inimitable DNA: Don't Panic!

And I realized the pole "trick" shortly after posting myself. But then... cables are a mess, I laid them out vertically first, then horizontally since vertically lots of cables cover each other. Same as with power line visibility. Yeah, as Choumiko say, the Logistics and Circuit UI needs an overhaul.

Which is also something I like about Factorio (and the mentioned frustration is precisely because I love this drug so much :D): the devs are clear about the graphics *NOT* being "retro because cool" but wanting to improve them (while the 2D/isometric view is a design choice, but I don't really consider that "retro"... of course, being able to rotate the view would help with cables :D)
