On the quickbar I would like to be able to save the positions of items. Even if I run out of the item nothing else should go there. It would have like a "grayed out" image of the item. Then, when I get more of that item, it will show up there just like it was before.

It would even be great if you could name the saves like Early Game, Middle Game, Late Game... Then switch between them as you progress.

Have you tried middle mouse button?

Click on empty field to select, or on an accoupied field to save the current one.

Ahhhhhhh ok clearly this is a case of great minds thinking alike.
