Put a pair of regular signals just after the split, the train at the station is in the same block the chain signals lead into.
Remember, chain signals at every entrance to a "shared block", regular signals at every exit

Train 2.2 is occupying a block that includes most of the orange path, hence Train 1 is being prevented from entering that block. Place a chain signal before the split and regular signals just after and things will run nicely (the regular signal after the split behind where Train 2.2 is what will enable Train 1 to take the orange path because Train 2.2 is no longer occupying the block containing the split due to the aforementioned regular signal).

I can not get that to work or I am not putting them were you what me to.
what I like to do is keep Trains 2.1 were it is till Trains 2.2 is not there and Trains 1 to use the bay pass.
ne signal put at the junction of the yellow and orange moves Trains 2.1 to that pint.

it moves Train 2.1 to the new signal.

That's strange, in my test it works just fine.

That train has the same contents as the one in the station. Am I right in thinking it's probably trying to get to that station? In which case no it won't go around will it =D

Trains 2.1 and 2.2 are the same and go to that stop like a relay.

...
Then why are you thinking it will go around? You've told it to go to that stop so that's what it's doing.

Train 1, the one with the copper ore, is supposed to go around, if I understood correctly.

Is Train 2.1 set to go to the station currently occupied by Train 2.2? If so, that explains things, I won't use the siding because it can't reach the station it wants via that route.

If you want to force trains to wait on the siding then change the signals before the station to chain signals.
This should cause them to wait on the siding for free station (if they have it as stop) or for green light on the siding around station.
I'm not sure but if train that doesn't go to station calculated path through it it might get stuck and wait to go there anyway - there are various threads about trains not wanting to recalculate paths if one of possible tracks is taken and other is free.

Trying to get a train to bypass a station on its schedule isn't impossible let, it would just take some combinator magic: hold the signal into the bypass on red until the waiting bay you want to clear is occupied, then open the bypass lane, should only take an extra signal in the waiting area and a couple of decoder combinators

Train 2.1 = 2.2
and like them to stop before the curve

Ahhhh I get the point now. Train 2.1 is in the station and 2.2 is waiting to go into the station, but you want train 1 to bypass the station meaning 2.2 can't block the path.
That's peculiar, the second image you posted should be fine. If you reverse 2.2 back into its waiting area does its chain signal stay red? When you put it back into auto does it still move forward?

That should do the trick, Both 2.x Trains wait in either of the upper lane (depending on which was free) until the lower station is free. All Trains wont enter the Block unless there is at least one of the upper lanes free.
The "1"-Train can leave and will take either of the lower lanes (probably prefering the lower one, since it looks shorter, but if its blocked, it'll take the upper one (of the lower lanes
)
EDIT: the Chain-Signal for entering the upper-lanes is on the wrong side, it should be on the other side of the track otherwise you'll get a no-path-error.... my bad
