How to Fix Up Catching Up

PC SPECS:
Im logging into my friends server and it's always stuck on "Catching up" unless he pauses the game for me to catch up and connect. Even after I connect I cant move or interact with anything in the game. I am only able to zoom in and out. Bare in mind that I am using the latest experimental build of Factorio and the map size is default. Any fix to this? I already increased the thread count and already set the texture compression to be enabled.
