[EDS] Electric defense system

First I just want to say this game idea is amazing and I am really amazed I didn't hear about it sooner, have been playing for almost 3 days straight and can't get off it.
Anyways to my suggestion, perhaps some of you know what it is already. I'd really LOVE to see some kind of defense system like the one used in the star ship trooper movies. It's basically a pillar powered by electricity, you place 2 of them and everything in between will get electrocuted. Of course this would be pretty overpowered if we expect it to one hit kill everything, but as everything I think this can be balanced. If you make the energy cost HUGE even for just powering 2 pillars people would only choose to place it at strategic locations / choke points. I expect this to be mostly used for the end game, you could also limit the effective range in between the pillars. You could even only make it able to hit max 2 enemies every 1 second (since it will need to recharge). Perhaps the developers will frown upon my idea, in that case will this be possible to achieve through mods? I'd really love to see this.
I have so many more ideas for this amazing game but I will see how this is received first. Thank you all.
