Is there a bug with inserting coal into chemical plants?

For some reason the inserter doesn't want to insert coal needed for plastic bars into the chemical plant. I tried from every angle. It has gas and when I insert the coal manually it produces the plastic bars just fine. So what am I missing here?

Do you take the plastic out of it?

Ok that was kinda stupid. Now that I added the takeout inserter it's working just fine.

I understand from your followup that you just had to add an exit inserter, but I am experiencing similar difficulties with making plastic bars. I tried positioning inserters around the facility, but nothing has worked. I am at a point where I can't advance until I figure this out. Any help is appreciated!

Of course, sorry about that. Here is the screenshot. I followed the setup as best I could based on previous image in the thread. Thanks again.

This one isn't making plastic, but solid fuel. Solid fuel only requires petroleum gas, not coal. It also seems to be outputting the solid fuel just fine on the most right belt. The grey blocks can be a bit hard to see on the grey belts.

Thanks Teurlinx for the reply. I thought plastic bars were made with coal in that facility. Which facility are plastic bars made in, and with what ingredients? I thought I was making it correctly based on the image provided by Roest earlier in the post. I am pretty new, so I apologize for the n00b question.

No need to apologize :)

You simple selected the wrong recipe for the chemical factory. If you click on the factory and then press on the circular arrow ('Set current recipe') next to the current recipe you get back to the menu where you can select plastic bars.

Note that it won't immediately start outputting the plastic either with this setup since the output belt is still full with solid fuel :)

Teurlinx, you rock man. I spent about 30 mins on Sunday trying to figure it out, and when I couldn't I fell into a mild depression because I thought I could not advance :( But BEHOLD! The answer has come. Yep, just had to click on the circular arrow and choose from there. Thanks so much!
