Factorio crashed on me after I ran the alpha for the first time; I ran it and it prompted me to install the scenario pack. After downloading it (and prompting for UAC elevation), the program promptly crashed.
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: Factorio.exe
Application Version: 0.0.0.0
Application Timestamp: 53480fbc
Fault Module Name: nvd3dumx.dll
Fault Module Version: 9.18.13.3523
Fault Module Timestamp: 5315b3c5
Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Offset: 000000000076ffa2
OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1
Locale ID: 4105
Additional Information 1: ef8f
Additional Information 2: ef8f21c8487659c7b746b328fc519267
Additional Information 3: f6c0
Additional Information 4: f6c0e587b5961195df34857c2dd8f963
Since this does list the fault module as being in an nVidia DLL, here're the two GPUs in my system. The GT220 is currently not configured with any monitors attached, however:
GeForce GTX 570
Driver Version: 335.23
Direct3D API Version: 11
Direct3D feature level: 11_0

GeForce GT 220
Driver Version: 335.23
Direct3D API Version: 10.1
Closing the APPCRASH dialogue (I tried to start a debugger to get more information for the report, but it failed. Probably a config issue on my end) resulted in a fresh instance of Factorio starting despite the crash.

This might be some problem with the display loosing control in the UAC screen, I will look at it before the next release.
I believe, you can solve the issue now, by downloading the scenario package manually from factorio web pages.

No, it downloaded perfectly fine. It was after finishing the download that the game crashed.

We made some fixes in the updater, so it should not happen in the version 0.10.3 and futher.
