It would be cool if you could block a single side of belts. Like in a red bottle factory, you have a two belt setup in the middle, and you don't want your iron going all the way to the end, you could just block off the Iron.

If you mean conveyer belts instead of rails that is totally possible with underground belts facing sideways. If you actually mean rails i have read your post 3 times and don't see what you want.

Presumably, yes, he is talking about belts.


And no, this crappy workaround is not a solution. There were mods for this back before they optimized belts. Lots of people are still requesting this.

I personally wonder the same thing, though I do have similar issues from running Iron down one side, and Copper down the other side of a belt... or Gears down one side and Electronic Circuits down the other, etc. One of the interesting ones I tried had gears down one side, and copper wires down the other, and after passing the electronics factory, the copper wires were replaced with electronic circuits... however, in the modern system, you can't do this so easily (Well, you can still use the underground belt trick).

Just use the tools the game already gives you. Underground belts block a lane from the side on PURPOSE to solve your exact kind of problem.

Oh crap, I meant conveyor belts, I don't know why but I keep calling Belts Rails, I'm not sure why.

Its not a workaround, the ability to block a single side of a belt is evidently already in the game

How can anyone look at that and not think that is bug abuse? Or an obvious makeshift workaround?

From other suggestions around this subject I can add: The design of the underground belt needs to be made a bit more "obvious" to make this feature perfect.
But that is just a graphical glitch.

EDIT: And please read the linked thread: there are reasons not to add more belts.

My mspaint skills may leave much to be desired but maybe this will still bring my point across.

suggestion to a minor graphical overhaul of underground belt:

no, the shadows arent supposed to be rendered wrongly like this, the point Im trying to make is only that the other side of the belt should not be blocked from view.

Mendel, that's awesome.

@Mendel that's epic idea - IMO its worth posing that as new idea thread. It would make it much clearer to players that the underground belt ends can be used for more than just transition from above/below ground.
