Hello,
0.13.16 server is listed in 0.13.17 multiplayer game browser. See attached screenshot.

That could just be a typo on the server admin's part...

Not sure but I think his idea is that a 13.17 install should not even list 13.16 servers. I simply don't know if there is such a restriction but I doubt it.

He has the base mod from 0.13.16 but I think the executable is 0.13.17 and something failed during updating.

Yeah, that's what happened
The version field only appears when you manually disable the version filter with a hidden config option. I'll look at forcing the base mod version to be the same as the executable.
