Adjustable Splitters?

Sometimes I don't want a splitter to parse each item from the main belt 1:1. Perhaps have an option for 1:2 and 1:4 or even 1:8. The reason for this is that lets say my power plants don't need that much coal and I don't want the line to be backed up on that line when that extra coal can go elsewhere. As always I searched for posted topics on splitters. Thought I would throw this one out there.

There have been topics about this before. I believe official stance is - if you can make it with current tools - adding new tools is pointless. 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 are very easy to make as well.

I guess they just don't want to "do it". That's ok. But if they do change their mind in the future perhaps make the splitters adjustable after you give them some sort of upgrade and make it a "Smart" splitter. It's a shame the devs shut this idea out.
Oh well-

Im sorry and understand your anger, It's because the function can be obtained by combining other elements and doesn't bring the game forward. And there are tons and tons of other, more important stuff waiting for implementation.
Or when you think with the new blueprints: It's just one click.

Sorry again, I also made many suggestions in that direction. Indeed there are many users, that want some special behavior of the splitters and as moderator currently I think it is better to say clearly "NO!", instead of having some interesting, but useless discussion, where it is clear, that it never gets the chance to be implemented.

You could also look at it that if the line IS backed up, what would be going down that second backed up line gets pushed down the other clear line instead anyway, so things do sort themselves out.

For those who don't click the links, what's being said is that you can use several splitters to get a 25/75, 12.5/87.5 split quite easily. Simply split the lesser line again, then feed one of the outputs back to the main line. Repeat as needed.

It never hurts to put it in as a request in the 'Mods' section. Even if it's something simple. Who knows? Someone might pick it up for practice and you'll get to use it.
