One of the iron nodes in the first mission has 0 iron in it. This allows you to mine it into negative numbers and (presumably) would allow you to mine it forever:

Thanks for the report. This is now fixed for 0.9.8 and also the bug in map editor which created the resource with value 0 is fixed.
