Summary
When changing sound settings in Factorio, if the user navigates away from the 'Sound settings' menu by pressing the 'Escape' key, sounds are not updated.
To Reproduce
- Open Factorio and start a game
- Navigate to 'Options' then 'Sounds'
- Change the 'Master Volume' slider to Empty (0)
- Press 'Escape' 3 times to return to the game
- Go hit a tree or similar
Expected Result
- Sound settings are changed
- Sound sliders reflect current in game sound settings
Observed Result
- Sound settings are not changed
- Slider settings ARE persisted, so the UI becomes out of sync with the actual sound settings
---
This left me puzzled. I wanted to decrease the sound of chopping wood, as it is too noisy for me. I went to change the settings in the sound menu, but there was no apparent effect. It took me some experimentation to realise I had to click the 'Back' button to make the sound settings changed rather than pressing 'escape'.
