It has been like this for the last couple of versions (forever?). I don't know what happens to the bots when they run out of energy.. disappear?
Problem is, when you're in a damaged train/car and travel for quite a while into another roboport zone, no new bots come to repair you, until the initial one has caught up to you and repaired you, and it can take quite a while. Not a big problem, but a bit weird to see bots fly in the middle of nowhere

well, logistic bot are fixed in the sense that they linger at the limit of the logistic area and if you don't get back in time they go recharge and drop the stuff
if a construction bot runs out of charge chasing you, it disappears (crashes)

Just wanted to say, that we acknowledge this problem, but as it is not critical enough and not so trivial to solve, we will leave it for the next major update.

I am experiencing this with the tank in 0.11.3. Construction bots will follow me to the biter bases if they have to, although they give up at some point, I suspect due to low power or something.

So I fixed the problem again. (This time I added automated test of such scenario).
Fixed for 0.11.12
