I can't seem to replicate the bonus to how lab research works. I am trying to give all buildings that uses electricity increased efficiency, production and lower electric cost after a research is done without the need of a module.

You can't, that is a special feature only for the lab.

You have to do active upgrades: search and replace every building with an upgraded version.

Well that is nice to know. Saved me hours of searching.
