So I ended up on a server totally overrun with biters. I died the instant I spawned. That's not a bug, just poor server maintenance.

However, it was a little tricky to leave the server. Because I was busy being dead, I couldn't use the menu to leave. It's thanks to my quick reflexes that I managed to use the menu in the small time window between deaths.

To clarify: You can't open the menu while waiting for respawn. The menu, when opened, is not closed while waiting. The opened menu can't be interacted with while waiting.

Um, can't reproduce. Pressing escape opens the menu just fine. Clicking it works just fine, too.

I can confirm the issue,

If you open the menu, and then die, you cannot interact with that menu, unless you close it and open it again

Fixed for 0.14.5
